Saints Constantine and Elena celebrated in Athens - 2011

May 21st on the Church calendar (June 3rd n.s.) marks the celebration of the Holy Emperor Constantine and his mother Saint Elena whom the Holy Orthodox Church calls Equals of the Apostles due to all their labours in bringing the true Christian faith to the entire world. Though our cathedral in Athens is named for the Holy Great-martyr Demetrios, because that was its original dedication, the main altar (the central of the three) is dedicated to Saints Constantine and Elena. These photographs were taken during the festivities in 2011.

Thanks to Father Andrei Sidnev for the photographs. For Russian, see his blog.
